Marty was born in Tempe AZ in March 1945, his Mother was a war bride, and his soldier Father was away at war. His first influence into art were his parents. His mother was creative in all she did. He remembers going on picnics and watching her do watercolors of wild flowers. His father was an accomplished amateur artist. Spending the summers in the mountains as a youth Marty developed a great love of nature. During high school Marty took an art class taught by Bill Voss a professional artist. Launching his desire into the world of art, Bielefeldt continued his art studies at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. During this time Marty married his sweetheart Sylvia. Graduating in 1972 with a BA Degree in education and art and obtained a teaching job. Later, having a desire to teach art, Marty obtained an art teaching position in the Gilbert AZ schools, fulfilling his dream. Besides continuing college classes after graduation Marty has taken several workshops, from artists Jerome Grimmer, Julia Ayres and Catherine Kernan. Other artist that he admires are Winslow Homer, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet
